The most direct flights may take as little as 14 – 16 hours, but could cost quite a lot. When plans include s... Read More
Sint Maarten/Saint Martin, two names for one rather small island. This now peaceful Caribbean island has a long and bloody history. Violence began long before the day Columbus first sighted the island in 1493 on November 11, the holy day of Saint Martin of Tours. He claimed the island for Spain, naming it Isla de San Martin. Throughout history, the island changed hands many times between Spain, France, Holland, Britain and Denmark. Before the... Read More

Castillo San Felipe del Morro Approaching old San Juan by sea, time regresses about 500 years. Weather worn towers (garitas) top the seemingly endless brownish walls dominating the horizon. Looming over the city, the ancient battlements stand guard. The somewhat crumbly appearance deceives the eye, as they seem in fact quite solid. Garita on Castillo San Cristobal, San Juan Puerto Rico San Juan, Pue... Read More

LeConte Fjord Tour With Innersea Discoveries Cruises "Un-Cruise" “Exploring Blue Icebergs” Cool blue rays radiated through odd shaped icebergs as they drifted aimlessly throughout LeConte Bay in Southeast Alaska. As our outboard powered inflatable boat approached the massive iceberg flotilla, each iceberg or “Bergy Bit” had their own unique, one-of-a-kind personality. Some chunks of blue ice looked like giant birds while others looked like sea monsters or ice ships piloted by... Read More

It,s great to live in rural Idaho. This is an irrigated area along the Snake river. I live at the edge of the irrigated land and the desert or seeding is only a half a mile away. This is the best of both worlds. I can ride from the pasture/corrals to the desert on my riding mule and roam vast stretches. Those that do not live in areas with government lands miss the opportunities to use them. Idaho is almost half government lands and it is open for use to the public. We (my wife and I and u...
